My "Bucket List"


For those who don't know me or aren't interested you can skip this post. It has no pictures and just a long, perhaps boring to you, to do list, more or less.

This summer I participated in the Summer Reading Program at our public library. The main reason I do it is because if we complete the program we don’t have to pay library fines for a year. This is a blessing since I check out so many books at different times that I have a hard time keeping track of all of them. One of the things you could do to earn points was make a list of 100 things you want to do in your lifetime. Since I am in the last quarter of my life, I had a difficult time listing 100. I managed to come up with 80. I didn’t earn the points but I do have a list. Here it is:
  1. Make a chronology of my life.
  2. Keep my blog current.
  3. Attend my family reunion.
  4. Go to Arizona at least once a year.
  5. Have more grandkids.
  6. Go to Asilomar quilt retreat.
  7. Attend the temple at least once a week.
  8. Make Barbie clothes for my granddaughters.
  9. Finish our fireplace.
  10. Finish my Noah’s ark hooked rug.
  11. Send in one children’s story to a publisher.
  12. Continue graham cracker gingerbread house tradition.
  13. Read one book a week.
  14. Read my scriptures every day.
  15. Attend the births of all my future grandchildren.
  16. Get out of debt.
  17. Be senior missionaries with my husband.
  18. Quilt the baby quilt my mom made for Destiny.
  19. Make Kim a baby quilt.
  20. Continue working on good relationships with all my children.
  21. Make 100 more dolls.
  22. Finish summer reading program.
  23. Write a gratitude journal.
  24. Type my personal history.
  25. Type my family histories.
  26. Draw every day!
  27. Take an art class.
  28. Go to Carla’s for art night at least once a month.
  29. Go on a date once a month with Allan.
  30. Attend a book club once a month.
  31. Go on a trip with an old friend.
  32. Take a family picture.
  33. Take a picture of my grandkids by the old railroad station.
  34. Redesign my blog.
  35. Lose 10 pounds and keep it off.
  36. Plant and harvest a garden.
  37. Eat raspberries.
  38. Learn to make Carla’s hazelnut cake.
  39. Make cream puff cake for New Year’s eve.
  40. Make a new recipe.
  41. Clean out the basement.
  42. Clean out the garage.
  43. Clean out my kitchen cupboards and drawers.
  44. Get new carpet.
  45. Get new bathroom floor.
  46. Paint house.
  47. Fix paint in laundry room.
  48. Go see my sister in California.
  49. Get regular exercise.
  50. Go to Paris with Dani.
  51. Celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends. (Only nine more years!)
  52. Take photos of everyday things.
  53. Pray daily.
  54. Read a travel book once a year.
  55. Read Thoreau.
  56. Email a friend once a week.
  57. Do an art swap.
  58. Write kids and grandkids once a month (snail mail!)
  59. 100% Visiting Teaching.
  60. Be nice!
  61. Design a children’s dress.
  62. Save $1,.000.
  63. Go to a Broadway Play.
  64. Visit Maine.
  65. Get the sound on my computer fixed.
  66. Draw 100 faces.
  67. See Hunger Games sequels.
  68. Read Chaucer.
  69. Buy a heater.
  70. Read Becoming Isaac series.
  71. Get an ipod or laptop.
  72. Label my photos that aren’t in labeled envelopes.
  73. Help John and Kim move into their own home.
  74. Read The Little Girl at the Window by Tetsuko Kuroyangi
  75. Read all the books in the book 1001 Children’s Books You Must Read Before You Grow Up.
  76. Write a poem.
  77. Type all my poems on the computer.
  78. Type my stories from high school into the computer.
  79. Go to France on a “French General” trip.
  80. Make quilts for my grown married kids.
